Those who are of the Christian faith remember Jesus’ death on the cross today–the day we call Good Friday. I wrote this poem some years ago after reading the account of Jesus’ passion from Mark 15.

Yes, today is the day to remember that evil party. I always find this day to be peaceful and full of promise, too.

Yes Margaret. It’s so wonderful to know the rest of the story.

Thanks for this, and it was pretty amazing to see we both shared the same song today! (Thanks for the link to your other blog. I will definitely visit again.)

Thanks Ruth! I was so pleased when I saw that song quoted in your post. (I went on itunes some months back and downloaded several albums of Andrew Peterson’s. His songs were my buffer during some of the nasty hours recovering from my recent surgery. His lyrics are full of wonderful poetry.)

Such an interesting treatment of this familiar and somber story, Violet – thank you for sharing.
And wishing you and yours a lovely Easter.

A low, dark moment, followed, thankfully, by Light and Hope.

Thank you so much, Becky! It’s always a challenge to write about these kinds of familiar events that other writers have written about so well.
